Nambé lies northeast of Pojoaque where the valley floor begins climbing toward the Sangre de Cristos, past orchards and irrigated land and up into piñon-juniper foothills. It is a beautiful transition zone and it hands windows two distinct problems at once.

From above comes the organic load. Piñon and juniper pollen arrives in heavy waves in spring — anyone who has parked a car outside in northern New Mexico in April knows the yellow film — and it is sticky enough that it does not simply blow off. Well water in the Nambé area is hard, and where sprinklers or drip overspray reach the glass, the mineral left behind as the water evaporates builds up season by season into a cloudy film that looks permanent and is often mistaken for worn-out glass. In most cases it is not — it is a treatable mineral deposit, and it releases with the right approach. Many properties here are also on unpaved access, which keeps a steady dust load on the panes between cleanings.
