Mesh catches what Nambé's air carries
A window screen is a filter whether or not anyone intends it to be, and in Nambé it filters piñon and juniper pollen in spring and orchard bloom and sap residue through the rest of the season. Pollen alone would rinse off. Combined with a fine sap mist it does not — it bonds into the weave and dries there, and the mesh loses both its light and its airflow while still looking superficially clean from a distance.

Spraying a screen in place drives that material into the mesh and onto the glass behind it. We take every screen down, hand-wash it with a soft brush and solution that releases the bonded pollen and sap, and rinse until the water runs clear. Hard well water here leaves its own deposits on the frame, which we address at the same time, and each screen is checked for torn mesh before it goes back in its own opening.
