Window Track and Sill Cleaning in Galisteo
In Galisteo the sill and reveal are the job. Deep adobe openings collect basin silt and hold it, and that trapped material is what reloads the glass. We clear the openings and channels by hand and detail the frames.
Volume of water is the wrong tool against a soft plaster reveal — it marks the finish and drives silt further into the wall. This is patient hand work with controlled water, which is slower and the only approach that doesn't do damage.

Deep adobe openings hold the silt
The Galisteo Basin moves an unusual amount of fine red silt, and the village sits in it with almost nothing to break the wind. Traditional adobe construction makes that worse for tracks specifically: thick walls mean deeply recessed openings, and a recessed opening is a pocket. Silt that would blow past a flush-mounted window instead drops into the reveal and works its way down into the track, where it stays until somebody removes it by hand.
Hand work, not just suction
Fine silt packs far denser than coarse grit, so a vacuum pulls the top layer and leaves the rest bonded to the channel. We agitate the full depth of the track with a brush before the final extraction, and clean the reveal and sill as part of the same pass — leaving silt in the recess simply reloads the track within days. Hard water spotting on the sill is treated at the same time.
